How can an ultra-filtration calculator help your facility thrive?

ESRD QIP Measures for 2022 continues the reporting requirement for UFR.  Understanding the guidelines for this reporting measure is only the beginning.  Educating patients, training staff, and creating an easy-to-use calculator which assure safe treatment parameters may be the first steps in assuring your facility not only reports, but maintains UFR below the threshold.

Visonex has created a UF Calculator that assist staff, while inside the medical record, assure fluid removal is safely calculated.  The calculator uses information from the patient’s dialysis prescription such as time on dialysis and dry weight.  It also takes into consideration if there are any prosthetic devices in use and calculates based on the pre weight of the patient.  Capturing this information inside the medical record assures staff review for safe treatment parameters and documents the review in association with the treatment.

In Visonex’s Quality Measures Assessment Tool (QMAT), we also capture the monthly UFR per patient.  This allows you to identify outliers for education or intervention.  Identification, education and impact month over month are key factors to improving quality outcomes.  QMAT is also beneficial during Core Survey.  How can your facility identify patients in these areas?  QMAT can assist during Core Survey and provide an overview of your month-to-month QIP measures.

  • Goal is to be below threshold
  • Avg UFR > 13 ml/kg/hr
  • US Threshold = 9.4%
