DATABASE DEVELOPMENT ARCHITECT

POSITION SUMMARY:      

The database development architect is responsible for designing, documenting, and developing secure, high performing, and scalable databases, database objects, and data. This individual collaborates with the development team to complete database development projects. This person will also create, maintain, and enforce SQL coding standards, best practices, and oversee database change control. This person must be able to work with and train team members in both the USA and Ecuador. 
 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Technical Requirements 
  • Designs, documents, develops, and implements SQL Server databases. 
  • Collaborates with the development team to complete database development projects on time including schema changes, index creation, jobs, and stored procedures. 
  • Creates, reviews, and approves database architecture designs while ensuring that coding, performance, and security standards are being met. 
  • Assists development and reporting teams in optimizing SQL statements in applications, batch jobs, and reports and in designing and using databases and database applications and processes for maximum performance, security, reliability, and availability. 
  • Plans, develops, and implements data migrations. 
  • Performs code reviews on database related tasks periodically to ensure quality. 
  • Assists in the design and development of the data warehouse using industry accepted methodologies, standards, and processes. 
  • Assists in the design and implementation of data aggregation, policies, procedures, methods, and standards. 
  • Oversees the Database Change Control process and ensures database release consistency and accuracy. 
Functional Requirements:

    • Database Change Control Management: Reviews and approval

    • SCRUM process 
    • Deployment checklists 
  • Attends all required meetings / Demonstrates understanding of requirements / Contribute with ideas  
  • Delivers clear, detailed, and understandable technical documentation 
  • Trains developers in database development, design, processes, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: 

DESIRED SKILLS: 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Virtual Machines. 
  • Familiarity with Health Level Seven (HL7). 
  • Experience with Medical Claims Processing. 
  • Experience with serial and TCP/IP communications. 
  • Experience in Web, JavaScript, and ASP.NET programming. 
  • Experience in C# and object-oriented programming. 
  • Experience in design and implementation of SQL Server 2014/2018 databases. 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

  • Ability to present technical plans and documentation to senior leaderships in English and Spanish. 
  • Ability to create business requirement and functional requirements documents in English and Spanish. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to other team members English and Spanish. 
  • Ability to direct work guidelines to other team members. 
  • Ability to know how to delegate tasks to the appropriate team member. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to apply common mathematical problem solving to real world business situations. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to 8 hours and stand for up to 3 hours.   
  • Manual dexterity is needed to use a computer (keyboard/mouse) and write.  
  • Listening and speaking during daily activities is essential.
